Dear Southwest High School Students, Families, and Community,

It is with tremendous excitement and gratitude that I welcome you to Southwest High School. I am deeply honored to serve as your principal and to join a community with such a strong sense of pride, tradition, and commitment to students.

I believe that every student deserves access to an exceptional educational experience—one that challenges them academically, supports their personal growth, and prepares them to pursue their goals with confidence. Our work at Southwest will remain centered on high expectations, meaningful relationships, and a shared commitment to ensuring that every Raider succeeds.

Families are essential partners in this work. Your voices, experiences, and support are invaluable, and I want you to know that you are welcomed and needed in our school community. By working together, communicating openly, and remaining focused on what is best for students, we can move the needle on student achievement and create opportunities that will have a lasting impact on their lives.

As both the principal of Southwest High School and a Raider parent, my commitment to this campus is deeply personal. I am invested in the success, safety, and well-being of every student who walks through our doors. I look forward to listening, learning, celebrating our accomplishments, and addressing challenges alongside our students, families, staff, and community partners.

Together, we will build upon Southwest’s strengths, honor the vibrant culture already in place, and continue raising the standard of excellence. I am excited about all that we will accomplish as one Raider family united by a common purpose.

Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating and supporting your children. I look forward to a wonderful journey together and to demonstrating each day why Southwest is truly the place to be!

With Raider pride,

Joi S. Woodard
Principal, Southwest High School
